What do you do with your old shoes?
We all wear shoes, some of us even collect them and unfortunately like many things they wear out. Then what do we do? we throw them away, if they are still in good enough condition we might be able to donate them to a charity and help someone in need of some shoes, but most of the time in the bin they go.
Simply Stronger would like to change this, start June 2019 we will be collecting shoes from all walks of life to be recycled. These shoes will then be broken down and up to 90% of the shoe will then be recycled into items like gym mats and the flooring you find in kids playgrounds. All kinds of shoes can be donated for recycling, runners, street shoes, thongs, business, heels, we'll take them all. Anything we think can still have some life in them will be donated to charity then all the rest will be sent to the recyclers. There is a fee involved in recycling the shoes, so we ask if you can afford a gold coin donation to help us cover the cost we would be grateful.
You may be thinking 'It's only one pair of shoes, what difference could it really make in the grand scheme of things?' Consider this, in Australia we import over 100,000,000 shoes every year and last year between 70-80,000 were recycled. Every shoe we collect is one less of 100 million going into landfill.
To donate your shoes simply drop them off at Simply Stronger at 61 Hawthorn Road, Caulfield North or your local Rebel store.
